Harmonia Macrocosmica, The Adler Planetarium Edition

The cosmographer Andreas Cellarius is famous as the author of the Harmonia Macrocosmica (first published in 1660), a folio-sized work that is considered to be one of the most spectacular cosmographical atlases of the seventeenth century. The prints offered in this collection are published by Oppenheimer Editions from the remarkable originals in the collection of the Adler Planetarium. Each museum authorized actual size print is limited to an edition of 200. Every print is embossed with the Adler Planetarium logo on the bottom left and the Oppenheimer Editions mark on the bottom right. The back of each print is numbered and bears the stamped signature of the president of the planetarium.

Established in 1999, Oppenheimer Editions has partnered with prestigious museums to make prints from their holdings. Works from the New-York Historical Society’s unrivaled collections of John James Audubon’s watercolors and the Hudson River School paintings are examples of art that otherwise would be unobtainable. Among the institutional collections we have partnered with are the American Museum of Natural History, the Field Museum, and Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. These are not mere reproductions. They are limited-edition fine art prints made with the finest quality archival pigments on rag watercolor paper and executed to exacting standards.
