Ethnographic Art

Our collection of ethnographic art includes early representations of Native American tribes from the 19th and 20th centuries and Napoleon Bonaparte’s Description de l’Égypte. Included in the collection are Karl Bodmer’s Travels in the Interior of North America, Edward Sheriff Curtis’ The North American Indian, and Thomas McKenney’s and James Hall’s History of Indian Tribes in North America. These folios serve as important documentation of the displacement and erasure of Native American tribes.
