Produced in collaboration with the New-York Historical Society, Oppenheimer Editions has published a select number of the most iconic Hudson River School paintings from their collection as limited-edition prints.
The Hudson River School painters were the first American School of landscape artists who rose to prominence in New York during the early nineteenth century. Their paintings, created from direct observations of nature, captured the stirring beauty of the Catskill Mountains and Hudson Highlands. Their mission was to create a self-consciously “American” landscape vision based on the exploration of the natural world as a resource for spiritual renewal and expression of cultural and national identity.
