About the Birds of Asia
Issued over the span of 35 years, John Gould’s ambitious folio, Birds of Asia, captures the wonder and diversity of the many species that populate the Asiatic region of the globe. These antique original 19th-century hand-colored lithographs feature the various bird species inhabiting their respective native environments. Included in the folio are depictions of pheasants, trogons, parrots, kingfishers, and more.
About John Gould
19th-century British artist John Gould enjoyed a prolific publishing career that lasted over half a century and oversaw the issuance of more than a dozen folios examining birds from all over the world. Gould recruited the talents of natural history illustrators including Edward Lear in order to create his luscious folios. Among Gould’s best-known folios are the monumental Family of Humming Birds, Birds of Europe, Birds of Great Britain, and the Family of Toucans.

We accept returns of artwork purchased on our website within 30 days of the purchase date. Artwork returned in the same condition it was sent in is eligible for a complete refund. Every piece of artwork shipped from Joel Oppenheimer Gallery will be sent in good to excellent condition unless otherwise stated. Due to the depth of our inventory, some artwork may need to be conserved before it is shipped to you. This service is included with the purchase of every piece of antique artwork at Joel Oppenheimer, Inc. Original Audubon Octavos 1st Edition will be shipped in an archival rag board mat. Audubon 2nd edition Octavos are shipped as is.

If an antique piece requires conservation before it is shipped, this typically adds 5 - 10 business days to the delivery time.
